Career Experience

I graduated college in 2024 with a degree in Secondary Education and English. Since then, I have been working as a Building Sub, where I get the chance to build rapport with each student and discover fun lessons to use in my future classroom. I have also been working on my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction during this time. I just finished a position as a Long Term Sub for 9th, 11th, and 12th grade in which I got to hone my skills to develop lessons that help reader's understand a novel through writing, games, and group projects the encourage them to think outside of the box. I believe that teaching is more than designing lessons. It's about helping students discover their learning and organization style to prepare them for the real world. Our goal is not to teach the novel or writing, but to provide skills for students to use in their careers.

I Love Tutoring Because

I have always wanted to be an English teacher to inspire young readers to discover the novel that provides them the same joys- even if they believe that there are none out there. I am fond of the way novels transport the reader to new worlds- maybe fighting dragons, or learning about The Great Depression- and helping one see the world from new perspectives. Working with any level learner brings me great joy; knowing that I could make a positive impact on them.
